The 5th of March 2023 marked the first-ever edition of the Southern Region Local Councils’ Race at the Malta Equidrome for top category horses in a special horse race title in the premier category. 12 horses partnered with the Southern Regional Council’s 12 localities have raced in this important and special race event which was held with the support of the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts & Local Government.
It was a very exciting race with a very spectacular finish. The winner was number 12 who represented the locality of Zejtun. The winner horse Ellington Dream is a French born horse who found his first win of the season during this thrilling race.
At the end of the event, there was also a short ceremony where the Mayors or representative of the Malta Equidrome, presented tokens to the owners of the 12 horses that took part in the event. The winner apart from the prize money was also presented a Trophy and Shield.
